A decimal fractions is a somewhat special question, since it is spelled differently in our country, but also in the United States of America, for example.
Basics of writing decimal fractions
Decimal fractions consist of two parts:
- the whole of the parts of local value and
- from the fractional local value parts.
These two parts are separated by a decimal point.

Pronunciation of decimal fractions
Decimal fractions are pronounced as follows:
- we state the number of integers written in local value,
- instead of the decimal point we say: whole
- we state the number with fractional local value,
- then the last local value occupied.
The example above is pronounced like this:
- one hundred and two (or one hundred and two)
- all
- four hundred sixty-three
- regiment.
Depending on the number of digits you see after the decimal point, the last local value is printed with a forward slash:
- 1 number: tenth
- 2 number: century
- Number 3: regiment
- Number 4: ten thousandths
- etc.
Let's look at some concrete examples of how decimal fractions are pronounced:
10,1 = ten whole tenths
10.01 = ten whole one hundredths (in this case, the 0 is not pronounced separately)
26,502 = twenty-six point five hundred and two thousand

Although we use a comma in Hungary, in the United States of America, for example, the comma is replaced by a full stop.
For example:
